Patterson Consulting's GUI Map Editor is designed to view and edit WinRunner® GUI Map files in a graphical format without the need to open WinRunner® or even have WinRunner® installed. Additionally, you can store comments about windows or objects to help identify the items in your GUI Map.
High Rated Download
GUI Map Editor was one of the highest rated WinRunner® downloads from the old Mercury Support Site before the HP transition! A rating of 4.7 (5 being the highest!) was assigned by 27 users of the product, and this was more total votes than any other download! The only other WinRunner® download to receive a rating this high is our other tool, Function Browser!
Key Features
Easy to Use and Customizable Interface for Editing
Most GUI Map file editing done outside of WinRunner® is performed with a text editor. This exposes
the file to corruption if proper formatting of the file is not followed. The GUI Map Editor uses a graphical
interface for file manipulation to make editing easier. Since you do not modify the file directly, you are
not at risk for corrupting the format.
The application makes extensive use of docking panes to store various components. These panes can be hidden, floating, closed, or docked. You may also drag-and-drop the panes to different locations in the application. The end result is a user interface that can be customized to suit the needs of the individual user. Menus and Toolbars provide a professional look-and-feel and can be customized to provide quick access to the commands you use most often. The user can choose the visual theme that is used to draw various aspects of the application (menus, toolbars, docking panes, property grids). Themes include styles similar to Office 2003, Office XP, and others. Full Clipboard Support for GUI Map Elements
Any Window, Object, or Attribute can be placed on the clipboard and/or pasted from the clipboard. This
improves the speed at which items can be duplicated in the same GUI map file or transferred to other GUI
map files.
A Clipboard History pane shows all Windows, Objects, and Attributes that have been placed on the clipboard. This allows you to quickly and easily paste one or more items anywhere in your GUI map file.
Advanced Clipboard Options for Physical Descriptions
The physical description of a Window or Object can easily be placed on the clipboard for pasting into
a script. The following formats are available:
Improved Comment Manipulation
The 'comment' attribute of a physical description can be used to store information about a window or object.
Working with comments in this manner can be difficult. The GUI Map Editor displays comments
separately and hides the 'comment' attribute from the physical description. This allows you to view/enter
multi-line comments for any Window or Object in a much easier fashion. The comments, however, will still be stored in
the 'comment' attribute so that they can be viewed from the WinRunner® GUI Map Editor.
