Templates are more than static files that get copied upon creation. While a template can be that simple if you desire, you also have the ability to parse files during their creation and process special replacements parameters. This powerful feature allows you control the content of your generated files at the time of creation.
For instance, if you wanted to automatically include a certain comment header at the beginning of all new test scripts, you could set up your template to add the desired comment header. Instead of inserting static text
"<Insert Your Name Here>" or
"<Enter Current Date/Time>", you could add the corresponding replacement parameter for that type of data. When the template
is generated, the values will be automatically inserted into the comment header.
