General

The Options dialog is displayed by selecting Tools -> Options from the main menu. Then select Environment -> General from the tree on the left.

Window Layout

Setting Description
Tabbed Documents Uses a tabbed interface for switching between multiple documents.
Multiple Documents Standard MDI interface utilizing separate windows for each open document.

Recent Files

Setting Description
Items shown in Windows menu Specifies the maximum number of windows that will be displayed in the Window sub-menu of the main menu.
Items shown in recently used lists. Specifies the maximum number of items that will be displayed in the various 'recently used' lists. This includes list such as the File -> Recent Files and File -> Recent Projects sub-menus of the main menu.

Other Settings

Setting Description
Show status bar Toggles the application status bar on/off.
Close button affects active tool window only When multiple tool windows are grouped together, this setting determines what happens when the Close button is clicked. If this setting is turned on, only the active tool window will close. If this setting is turned off, all tool windows in the group will be closed.
Auto Hide button affects active tool window only When multiple tool windows are grouped together, this setting determines what happens when the Auto-Hide button is clicked. If this setting is turned on, only the active tool window will auto-hide. If this setting is turned off, all tool windows in the group will be automatically hidden.
Animate environment tools This setting determines if tool windows use a slide animation when hiding or displaying. When turned off, tool windows immediately hide or show.
User identification By default, the current user is identified from the Windows registered user information. If you prefer to use a different value, you may enter it here.
