Quick Find / Replace

The Quick Find and Replace features allow you to search with the current document or other open documents. To include files that are not currently open, use the Find / Replace in Files options.

Defining the Search

The following options are available for Quick Find or Quick Replace operations:

Find whatSpecifies the text for which you are searching.
Replace with(Quick Replace Only) Specifies the text that will replace instances of the Find what text.
Look inDetermines the scope of the search. Options include "Selection" (when available), "Current Document", and "All Open Documents".
Match caseWhen checked, the search is case-sensitive.
Match whole wordWhen checked, partial matches within words are ignored.
Search upWhen checked, the search will move up the document instead of down.
Search hidden textWhen checked, text within outlined regions will be searched. Otherwise, those regions are ignored.
UseWhen checked, you are allowed to specify an option for the Find what text. Available options:
  • Regular Expressions - Indicates that the Find what text represents a regular expressions pattern.
  • Wildcards - Indicates that the Find what text represents a wildcard-based pattern.

Executing the Search

The following commands are available for executing and controlling your search:

Find NextExecutes the search and attempts to find the next match. If found, that match is highlighted in the corresponding editor.
Bookmark All(Quick Find Only) Adds a standard bookmark for all matches to each line of a document that contains a match.
Replace(Quick Replace Only) Replaces the currently highlighted match and attempts to find the next match. If found, that match is highlighted in the corresponding editor.
Replace All(Quick Replace Only) Replaces all matches.
