Evaluation

Can I evaluate the software before purchasing?

Yes. Our Test Design Studio product download has the ability to enable a 20-day trial license that will allow you to evaluate the software. After installing the software and running it for the first time, you will be presented with a Licensing Wizard dialog. Follow the prompts to install the trial license.

Can I continue my evaluation after the trial period expires?

Yes. Re-installing the software will not activate a new trial. To continue your evaluation after the initial trial period has expired, please contact our sales department at to request a new trial.

Pricing

How much do licenses cost?

Our price list has the license price listed for each product and license type. The price depends on the type of license (e.g. 'seat' or 'concurrent') and the number of licenses purchased.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes. We have a tiered pricing structure for our licenses that is listed on our price list. The price you pay for each license is based on the total number of licenses you are purchasing including previous purchases where annual maintenance has been kept active.

Maintenance and Support

Is maintenance and support included in my initial purchase?

Yes. The purchase price for all products includes the first full year of maintenance and support.

How much does annual maintenance cost?

The cost of annual maintenance is based on 25% of the price of your current license configuration at the time of maintenance renewal. Consider, for example, that you need to renew annual maintenance on 6 seat licenses of Test Design Studio. 6 seat licenses of Test Design Studio places you in the '6 - 10' license tier where each license costs $1150. 6 licenses at that price would cost $6900, and that is the base value for determining your annual maintenance. A 25% maintenance fee on that base price would result in annual maintenance of $1725.

Can I continue to use my license if maintenance expires?

Yes. You can continue to use the most recent version of the software that was available at the time your maintenance expired. You will not, however, have a license to use minor and major upgrades of the software that are released after maintenance expires.

License Types

What types of licenses are available?

We offer a 'seat license' for individual usage, and a 'concurrent license' for more flexible installation requirements.

What is a seat license?

A seat license is the right to install and activate the software on a single machine. A serial number is assigned for each seat license and must be activated to a particular machine. Once activated, that serial number cannot be activated on a new machine until it is first deactivated from the old machine.

Can I move a seat license to a new machine?

Yes, but you must first deactivate the old machine first.

What is a concurrent license?

A concurrent license it the right to use a certain number of instances of the software at the same time. You can install the software on as many machines as you desire, but the number of concurrently running instances of the application will be limited by the number of concurrent licenses you have purchased.

How is the number of concurrent licenses tracked?

To work with the concurrent license model, you must install our 'Concurrent License Monitor' application on networked server or workstation. Any installation of the software that needs to use a concurrent license will have to have access to the Concurrent License Monitor.

Purchase Options

What forms of payment do you accept?

We currently accept checks, money orders, and wire transfers (domestic and international). We do not currently accept credit cards.

Will you accept a purchase order?

Yes. We will be happy to initiate the purchase through a purchase order.

What are your typical payment terms on purchase orders?

Upon receiving a purchase order, we will invoice you for the purchase amount with terms of NET30.

How quickly will I receive my licenses after making a purchase?

License information is typically processed within a few hours after receiving the purchase. If the purchase is made during hours that are not typical for a United States business, your request will be processed as soon as normal business hours resume.

Do we have to purchase directly from Patterson Consulting?

No. We realize that some companies are required to purchase through certain resellers, and we will work with them when required.

Please keep in mind that we have to pay fees for all purchases made through resellers, so kindly consider purchasing directly from us. This will help us avoid having to recover the reseller fees through future increases in license costs. However, if you have worked closely with your reseller while evaluating the product, they certainly deserve your support and we encourage you to complete the transaction with them.
